Softr reviewNo-code business apps, client portals and internal tools on your own data
Excellent
Brent score, out of 5
Softr is one of the fastest ways for a non-developer to turn a spreadsheet, Airtable base or its own database into a working portal or internal tool with logins and permissions. The free plan is real and the builder is easy to learn. The catch is app users: the limits on Basic and Pro are small, so a client portal with many logins quickly pushes you to the $329/month Business plan or paid add-on users.

Best for
- Small businesses building a client portal or partner portal
- Ops teams replacing spreadsheets with an internal tool
- Airtable, Google Sheets or Notion users who want a front end with logins
- Non-developers who want AI to draft an app, then fine-tune it visually
Skip it if
- Consumer apps with thousands of sign-ups on a small budget
- Developers who want full code control and their own hosting
- Teams that need native iOS and Android store apps
Your clients email you for status updates because they have nowhere to log in. Your team lives in a shared spreadsheet that someone breaks every week. You know you need a proper app, but a developer quote is months and tens of thousands of dollars away.
Softr sits in the gap. It is a no-code builder that turns your data, whether in its own database, Airtable, Google Sheets or a SQL database, into a portal or internal tool with logins, permissions, forms and workflows. You can start from a template, describe the app to its AI builder, or drag blocks into place.
This review explains what each plan really includes in 2026, how app users are counted, and where the pricing jumps.
What is Softr?
Softr is a no-code platform for building business apps such as client portals, intranets, CRMs, knowledge bases and inventory tools. Apps sit on top of Softr Databases or external sources (Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Supabase, BigQuery, HubSpot, monday.com, SQL and REST APIs), with real-time sync. You design pages from blocks, set user groups and permissions, add forms and workflows, and publish to a Softr subdomain or your own domain. Pricing is by workspace, based on builders, app users, database records, workflow actions and monthly AI credits.

What could be better
- App user limits are low: Basic includes 5 team + 5 client users, Pro 10 + 50

- 2FA, push notifications and installable PWA are Business only ($329/month billed yearly)
- Workflows pause when you hit the monthly action limit until it resets or you upgrade

Key features of Softr
AI app builder plus visual editor
Describe what you need and Softr's AI drafts the app, then you adjust it in the no-code editor. If you run out of AI credits you can keep building by hand, unlike tools that stop when credits end.
Many data sources
Use Softr's own database or connect Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Supabase, BigQuery, HubSpot, ClickUp, SQL and REST APIs. Data syncs in real time, so the app always shows current records.
Users, groups and permissions
Control who sees which pages, records and actions. Pro adds granular permissions, OTP and Google sign-in for app users; Business adds 2FA, domain-restricted sign-up and global data restrictions.
Workflows and forms
Automate steps such as notifications, record updates and approvals with Softr Workflows. Triggers and flow controls do not count toward the monthly action limit.
Ask AI and database agents
Built-in AI agents can answer questions for app users and work on your database records, using the plan's monthly AI credits.
Mobile access
Apps are responsive on phones, and the Business plan adds an installable progressive web app with push notifications.

Client portal for a consultancy
An accounting or design firm gives each client a login to see project status, download files and submit requests. Permissions make sure each client only sees their own records.
Internal inventory tool
A small retailer moves its stock spreadsheet into a Softr database with forms for stock-in and stock-out, and a workflow that alerts the buyer when an item runs low.
Front end for an Airtable base
A team that already runs operations in Airtable adds a Softr app so field staff can view and update only the records they need, without access to the whole base.
